Parliament's monsoon session begins, PM Modi urges all to become 'Bahubali' taking COVID-19 vaccine
New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday touched upon the COVID-19 pandemic urging all people to get inoculated with vaccines, ahead of the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament.
With a slight banter, Modi, who was holding an umbrella to avoid rains in the national capital, said, "I urge all to take COVID-19 vaccines and become Bahubali (one with strong arms). Over 40 crore people have already become Bahubali. The drive will be taken forward."
"I would be briefing all floor leaders over COVID-19 pandemic tomorrow evening," he added.
Though he skipped talking about the Pegasus spyware issue or hike in fuel prices or farmers' protests, the Prime Minister requested all opposition leaders to raise pertinent questions in Parliament but also allow the government to answer.
"I seek tough questions from the Opposition but also request them to allow the government to answer peacefully. Democracy will be strengthened if truth reaches the people," Modi said.
Ahead of the session, Modi Sunday held a customary meeting with all opposition parties' representatives here.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), the second largest opposition party in Parliament, is holding a symbolic protest against the fuel price hike Monday.
A few of the 30 odd TMC MPs will be travelling to Parliament riding bicycles to protest the rise in prices of petrol and diesel, which have kept common people in worry.
"We will raise surveillance issue in Parliament," said Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
