Kolkata/IBNS: Further consolidating its hold in West Bengal, the state's ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) is set for a sweeping victory in four municipal elections, which were held in Asansol, Bidhannagar, Chandernagore and Siliguri late last week, as the results are coming out on Monday.

In Asansol, TMC is leading in 50 seats, the Left in one and Others in one seat.

In Bidhannagar, the ruling party is ahead in 39 of 41 seats leaving one each for the Congress and Others.

In Chandernagore, TMC is leading in 19 seats while the Left in one.

In a surprising trend in Siliguri, TMC is leading in 31 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in two, Left two and Congress one.

The results come weeks after TMC, led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, registered a landslide victory in the Kolkata civic polls, decimating the entire Opposition.

Reacting to the prospected wins, Banerjee told a local television channel, "The elections were peaceful. It is the people's mandate. But I would appeal to my party to be more submissive with the wins."
