New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished former US President Barack Obama "quick recovery" from COVID-19.

Modi tweeted, "My best wishes @BarackObama for your quick recovery from COVID-19, and for your family's good health and wellbeing."

Obama on Sunday tweeted to inform that he tested positive for coronavirus and also urged people to get jabbed against the deadly virus.

The former US President tweeted, "I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative. It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down."

The US is witnessing a downward trend in COVID-19 cases, following the initial wave of omicron, registering an average of 34,805 new daily cases, the lowest case rate since July 2021, according to CDC data.

Only 44.3% of the U.S. population has received a booster dose.
