Sri Lankan politicians have appreciated Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for promoting Sri Lanka as a tourism destination.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Jaishankar was heard saying during an event that people should visit Sri Lanka during their next holiday.

“My first advice to you, the next time you want to take a holiday, go to Sri Lanka. I’m serious," Jaishankar was quoted as saying in the video.

Reacting to his move, former Sri Lankan Parliamentarian posted on X:"Deeply appreciate @DrSJaishankar efforts on championing tourism to Sri Lanka. We warmly welcome all our Indian friends to experience the rich tapestry of our culture. #Gratitude #Hospitality."

Former Sri Lankan captain and 1996 Wold Cup hero and politician Sanath Jayasuriya posted: " Special thanks to His excellency Indian External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar for your support during our darkest time by words and deeds. Also India's support to Sri Lanka Tourism is priceless to us."
