Budget session of Parliament to be extended by a day

New Delhi/IBNS: The ongoing Budget session of Parliament has been extended by a day till Saturday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said here on Tuesday.

The session, which began on Jan 31, was otherwise slated to end on Feb 9.

As per reports, the government is planning to present a ‘white paper’ on the state of the economy under the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

Earlier this month, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the government’s plan to bring the 'white paper' and alleged “10 glorious years” were lost during the UPA rule.

During the reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President's speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday criticised the Congress-led UPA government for mismanagement of the economy and alleged that the mentality of the PARTY has caused great loss to the country.

During his address to the Lok Sabha, Modi asserted that in his government's third term, India will become the world's third-largest economy.

"Based on my experience of 10 years of governance and looking at today's strong economy and the rapid speed with which India is progressing, I can confidently say that in our third term, India will be the third-largest economic power. This is Modi's guarantee," he said.
