CBI files FIR against ex-Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in cash-for-query case
New Delhi/IBNS: Based on the directions from the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday registered an FIR against former Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in the cash-for-query case, media reports said.
The Lokpal issued the directions receiving findings of the CBI's preliminary inquiry into allegations made by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey against Moitra.
It had directed the probe agency to submit its findings six months before it after investigating all aspects of the complaints against her in the matter.
The Lok Sabha passed a resolution to expel Mahua Moitra based on the report of the Ethics Committee over the 'cash-for-query' complaint in December last year.
However, the TMC has made her a candidate from her constituency Krishnanagar once again in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Mahua Moitra faced the allegations of asking questions in Lok Sabha to target Gautam Adani at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
The TMC MP has denied charges of taking bribes but admitted to sharing her parliamentary log-in details with Hiranandani.
