After Punjab singer's murder, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's security raised in Delhi jail
New Delhi/IBNS: Security for jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, leader of a criminal gang which claimed responsibility for the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, has been heightened in Delhi's Tihar prison, media reports said.
He had gone to court on Monday in a bid to stop the Punjab Police from taking him with them as he fears he would be killed in an "encounter".
Surveillance has also been increased inside the prison on a day when thousands gathered for the last rites of the singer at his native village in Punjab on Tuesday, said reports.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead on Sunday by unidentified gunmen in Punjab's Mansa district.
He was murdered just a day after his security cover was scaled down.
Earlier, the Punjab police had said the killing seemed to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry.
Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, a close aide of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, in a post on social media site claimed responsibility for the murder of the popular singer.
