Srinagar: Director-General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Thursday said policy is working to bring back youth into the mainstream who on the instigation of "Pakistan sponsored elements" get involved in "anti-national activities".

Singh made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the martyrs T-20 cricket tournament in Budgam that was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP congratulated the District SP Budgam and other partner groups for organising the event.

He said that the primary aim of organising various youth-oriented sports activities are to provide a platform to the budding talent and a chance to the youth to participate in positive activities which were affected by the COVID-19.

The DGP said that out of these tournaments they are looking forward to making one specialised team that will be provided support to represent Kashmir at the national level.

He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is on the forefront to provide opportunities to the youth to showcase their skills.

Speaking to the media, the DGP said, "that it has always remained our policy to get back our youth who on the instigation of the Pakistan sponsored elements get involved in antinational activities and added that JKP, forces are making all possible efforts to get even trapped militants surrendered."

"Getting armed youth surrendered at Budgam, Shopian and in Baramulla are the recent examples," he said.

He said that during ceasefire violations Pakistan is making all out attempts to push terrorists in greater numbers and added that our anti-infiltration grid on border areas is very strong to foil these attempts.

SP Budgam Amod Nagpure while speaking on the occasion threw light on the initiatives taken by Budgam police for the youth-oriented activities and community-based programmes.

He thanked DGP for gracing the closing ceremony and providing support for encouraging the youth of the district.

The tournament was organized by J&K Police under its civil action Programme in which eighteen teams from across the Budgam District participated and was inaugurated by the DGP on 12 October. In the final match today Force Green lifted the title by defeating Budgam Reds by 7 wickets.
