Arvind Kejriwal expresses grief over death of 24 migrant workers in UP
New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday condoled the death of at least 24 migrant workers, who were killed in a collision between two trucks on the National Highway-two in Auraiya, UP, in the wee hours of Saturday.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the CM said, "Extremely disturbed by the loss of lives in the accident in Auraiya. The tragedy of migrant labour keeps getting worse. Something needs to be done urgently.”
At least 24 migrant workers were killed and 35 others injured in a collision between two trucks at Chiruhali Miholi village under Sadar police station area on the National Highway-two, here in the wee hours of Saturday.
The District Magistrate Abhishek Singh said that the accident occurred around 0330 hours when a truck carrying migrant workers hit another stationary truck.
The DM said that most of the migrant workers were from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal and were coming from Delhi.
