Bengal polls: CPI-M faces demonstration over election-candidate
Kolkata, Mar 11 (IBNS): Expressing dissatisfaction over selection of a candidate for upcoming West Bengal assembly polls, few Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) activists on Friday staged agitation in front of party headquarters at Alimuddin Street in Kolkata.
The Left Front (LF) has given Bhatpara constituency in North 24 Parganas district to its ally Rashtriya Janata Dal, where Nur Mohammad is contesting from the seat for the upcoming Bengal polls.
Demanding the seat for CPI-M leader Jitendra Prasad, local CPI-M activists demonstrated in front of party headquarters.
After facing the protest here, former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya expressed irritation.
"Holding protest in this way is not our party's culture. Submit your complaints in written format to our party office. Party will look into your problems," Bhattacharya advised the agitators.
However, few protesters were called by the party leaderships to discuss the issue.
CPI-M leaders said that party would look into the matter and solve the problem as soon as possible.
The West Bengal assembly elections will be starting from April 4.
