'Cannot work in BJP' : Seeraj Khan after rejoining TMC
Kolkata/IBNS: Seeraj Khan, who had left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP two months ago, returned to the party fold today in the presence of Partha Chatterjee, Secretary General of the party and state water resources minister Soumen Mahapatra at Trinamool Bhavan.
Khan alleged that the same forces that had sidelined him in TMC have joined the BJP and prompted his return to the party.
“I realised I cannot work in BJP because the ones who hadn't allowed me to work before are now in that party. I was given Khadya Karmadakshya instead of fisheries where I am good at," he said today after joining the party.
He accused Shuvendu Adhikari and his family of deprivining of a TMC ticket to fight the elections.
Shuvendu Adhikari, known to be a trusted lieutenant of TMC, joined BJP December last, which was seen as a massive set back for Mamata Banerjee, especially when the party is set to face a big challenge from a BJP, which has gained considerable ground in West Bengal, in the 2021 Assembly elections. His father Sisir Adhikarihad, a Lok Sabha MP from Kanthi, lost two posts within a month after Suvendu joined the BJP. Recently, Sisir Adhikari also hinted that he may join BJP.
"The Adhikaris have been promising me ticket since 2011 but that did not happen, and I fought independently from Nandakumar where I lost by 5000 votes,” he claimed.
According to a release from TMC, Seeraj Khan is the Khadya Karmadhaksha of Purba Midnapore. He had contested as an independent candidate from Nandakumar in Purba Midnapore in 216, post which he had joined the Trinamool Congress. He has been involved in fishery business for more than 30 years.
He contested the Zila Parishad election in 2018 from Panskura Block and was appointed as Zila Parishad Khadya Karmadhaksha.
"Two months back in November 2020, he was misguided into leaving AITC and joined BJP taking the flag from Kailash Vijayvargiya. He joined back AITC today realising how ‘Bohiragotos’ are here to damage the social fabric of Bengal and that Didi is the only true leader under whom Bengal can progress," the TMC release," the TMC release stated.
