Chhattisgarh govt to waive loans of remaining farmers

| @indiablooms | Jun 12, 2019, at 10:56 pm

Raipur, Jun 12 (UNI): The Chhattisgarh government will waive loans of farmers who were not covered under loan waiver scheme earlier. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of state cabinet, chaired by chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

However, only half of the loans of such farmers would be waived.

State government has waived off short term agriculture loans obtained by the farmers from co-operative or regional rural banks or public sector commercial banks. But non-performing accounts of the farmers would not get benefit of this loan waiver scheme.

The state cabinet has decided to provide benefit of loan waiver through one time settlement to non-performing accounts that were not covered under loan waiver scheme.

To this end the state government would provide 50 per cent of the amount. The state government will incur half of loan amount of Rs 1,175 crore. Such account holders can get agriculture loan facility in future also.

The state government has also decided to withdraw one of the cases pertaining to purely political movements on the recommendation of the committee headed by the home minister.

All collectors and SPs have been instructed to forward such cases of political parties for action of withdrawal.
