Communists and Congress talking about democracy biggest joke: PM Narendra Modi
Kochi, Jan 27 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Communists and Congress talking about democracy was the "biggest joke".
"What is happening in parts of Kerala where political workers are killed just because their ideologies are different from the Communists?" Modi also said slammed the ruling Left government speaking at a rally in Kerala.
"Now this culture has spread to Madhya Pradesh where BJP workers are being attacked. The mindset of the Emergency still live on in the minds of many Congress leaders," he said.
Saying that the ethos of democracy always stood strong from India, Modi said: "Elections will come and go. The nation will remain."
"In their dislike for Narendra modi, the Congress, Communists and their friends should stop disrespecting institutions and our democratic fabric," he said and added the Communists and the Congress were corrupt.
On a day when Narendra Modi visited Madurai in Tamil Nadu for the foundation-laying ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the hashtag #GoBackModi surfaced on Twitter causing a major embarrassment to the Prime Minister.
Claiming to bring better health for people of Madurai, Modi laid the foundation stone for AIIMS on Sunday.
The posts mainly reflect the anger of the Tamil Nadu people as Modi did not visit the districts in Tamil Nadu that were ravaged by cyclone Gaja.
More than 3 lakh people were left homeless and around 11 lakh trees were uprooted in the cyclone.
Many tweets also contained a cartoon bearing the outline of Tamil Nadu with the face of late rationalist leader EVR Periyar saying "Go Back Modi" and "#GoBackSadistModi."
Again, there were some counter tweets as well with "#TNWelcomesModi" and "#MaduraiThanksModi."
PM Modi has received flak for his alleged silence over the Sterlite shooting in Tuticorin in which 13 anti-Sterlite protesters were killed by the police.
People who wrote anti Modi slogans also slammed him for the Centre's reported pro-Karnataka approach in the Cauvery waters issue, particularly over the Mekedatu reservoir project across Cauvery.
