Noida, Mar 24 (UNI): Taking a dig at Congress for failing to exert enough international pressure on Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday said the Modi government took the matter to the international level after the February 14 Pulwama terror strike and the retaliatory air strikes proved the country's ability to defend its borders.

Addressing BJP's Vijay Sankalp Sabha here at Gautam Buddha Nagar, Swaraj said after the Uri and Pulwama terror attack, the Indian government did not let its country and soldiers down. Instead, air strikes by the Indian Air Force (IAF) was the retaliatory action to prove that India will not let anyone to attack its land and people.

Swaraj listed three priority areas for the government - national security, development and welfare of its people.

"When you go to vote, think of these criterion. In the last 56 years of Congress regime, there was only one AIIMS but in the last five years of the Modi government as many 14 state-of-the-art hospitals like AIIMS have been approved," she said.

She said the Modi government has also strengthened the educational institutions of the country and several new IIMs, IITs, IIITs had been set up.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP will hold Vijay Sankalp (victory pledge) rallies in majority of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state to focus on development and achievements of the NDA government.
