COVID-19: West Bengal records 652 fresh cases, tally reaches 18559

Kolkata/IBNS: With the highest spike of 652 infections in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has mounted to 18559, including 5761 active cases, 668 deaths and 12130 discharges, reports said on Tuesday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the past 24 hours, 15 people succumbed to coronavirus infections while 411 more Covid-19 patients were discharged from various health facilities across the state.

The bulletin stated that the recovery rate dropped to 65.35 per cent which was 65.44 per cent on Monday.

In the state capital Kolkata, with 231 fresh cases and seven more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 cases has reached 5984, including 1852 active ones, 379 fatalities and 3753 recoveries, the bulletin read. 

West Bengal has tested 4,88,038 samples till date with 9619 tests conducted in 51 testing facilities across the state in the last 24 hours, reports said.

Currently, 6795 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 65990 people are under home surveillance in the state.
