Instead of knocking down unemployment & farmer distress, ‘boxer’ Modi punched guru LK Advani, small traders & farmers: Rahul

Bhiwani, Haryana, May 6 (UNI): In a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that instead of tackling issues like unemployment, farmers distress and poverty, ‘boxer’ Narendra Modi ‘punched’ his coach LK Advani, his team member Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jaitley and the small traders and farmers through policies like demonetization and faulty implementation of the GST.

Addressing a public rally in Bhiwani in support of Congress candidate Shruti Chaudhry, Mr Gandhi said, referring to this constituency having produced several boxing champions, said: "A boxer is seen alone in the ring but her is not alone. He has an entire team behind him, including his coach who gives him directions to tackle his opponent and his team member.

"In the previous Lok Sabha elections, the people of India put a boxer in the ring, Narendra Modi who was faced with opponents like unemployment, farmers’ problems and poverty. The crowd outside the ring, which comprised the people of India, has coach LK Advani and his team members like Nitin Gadkari, expected him to fight unemployment, poverty and farmers’ distress and Rs 15 crore in bank account of people. However, much to the surprise of the crowd, the boxer Narendra Modi, instead of fighting unemployment and farmers distress, punched his coach Advani ji, his team members Gadkari ji and then punched small traders and farmers through demonetization and faulty implementation of GST," Rahul said.

Charging Mr Modi of failing to fulfil promises made to the people of India during the 2014 lok Sabha elections, he said, "People brought this boxer in the ring and he is making punches in the air. Mr Narendra Modi was elected by people to fight unemployment, solve farmers’ problems, puy Rs 15 crore in bank accounts of people. However, he failed to do all this. Now, the public is saying that we do not want this boxer as in the last five years, he has punched the poor and the weak persons and farmers. Mr Modi cheated people of the country in the last five years."

Talking about the NYAY scheme proposed by the Congress in its manifesto which promises to deposit Rs 72,000 per annum in the bank account of poorest 20 per cent families in the country, Rahul said that unlike the present government which believed in benefiting a few corporate, the scheme was aimed at benefitting the poor people of the country.

‘’NYAY scheme is not for Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi or Mehul Chowksi. It is for the weaker sections, the poor, the honest people and the youth. Unlike Mr Modi, our fight is not against the people of the country, the farmers or the labourers. Our fight is against unemployment and poverty," he said.
