Maharashtra: Two killed in rain-related incidents in Nashik

Nashik, Jun 28 (UNI) Two people were killed in rain-related incidents in this district of Maharashtra.

Rupali Bhausaheb Bhoi (18) died after being struck by lightning in Niphad taluka on Thursday.

Rupali, along with her mother, had gone to forest to collect firewood where lightning struck her, leading to her on the spot death.

A 52-year-old man Puvappa Pujappa Kalal died due to electrocution at his beetle shop near Kalidevi temple.

Kalal was sitting in his shop when he came in contact with live wire. He was rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Heavy showers lashed Nashik city and most parts of the district on Thursday. Heavy showers resulted in water- logging on streets and in the low-lying areas of the city.

Chandwad, Peth, Satana, Igatpuri, Niphad, Nandgaon Peth and Trimbakeshwar received heavy rainfall.

During last 24 hrs, Nashik taluka received 59 mm rainfall, Igapuri 118 mm, Trimbak 64 mm, Baglan 34 mm, Peth 51 mm rainfall, while the district 374.5 mm.
