New Delhi, Sep 22 (IBNS): News outlet NDTV's stock prices witnessed a growth on Friday by five per cent following the news that Spice Jet has bought the company, which neither of the parties confirmed.

The report was first published in the Indian Express.

According to the newspaper, a senior staffer told the said newspaper about the deal.

The news read Indian aviation biggie Spice Jet's owner and co-founder Ajay Singh had picked up the majority stake in the company.

Singh's stake was valued at 40 per cent, while NDTV founders Prannoy Roy, Radhika Roy and its promoter firm RRPR Holding will continue to hold 20 per cent each.

This however was not clarified by either of the parties, who further dismissed the reports as 'baseless and absolutely false'.

Reports of Singh taking up NDTV and its editorial policies have also done the rounds on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, the news channel and its present owners are facing a CBI probe involving an allegedly concealed share transactions.
