New Industrial Policy 2021-30 | J&K Tourism Department holds workshop for tourism stakeholders

Srinagar/IBNS: J&K Tourism Department on Tuesday held a hand-holding session for the tourism stakeholders in which technical experts from the Industries & Commerce Department apprised them about the incentives under New Industrial Policy 2021-30.

The session was held at SKICC here where Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr GN Itoo, technical experts of I&C  and representatives from travel & trade, adventure tourism, tourist guides, houseboat owners and prominent hoteliers attended.

The New Industrial Policy 2021-30 was unveiled in April this year by the government and has provided further impetus to different sectors including the key tourism sector, opening up new vistas for stakeholders and entrepreneurs alike from tourism in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, DrItoo thanked Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary I&C and Secretary Tourism for including the tourism sector which will provide further impetus to the sector. 

While appreciating the participation of the stakeholders, DrItoo expressed hope that the outcome of the meeting would benefit the people associated with the tourism sector as the new incentive scheme will provide the much-required impetus to the sector.

On the occasion, a  presentation made by technical experts from the I& C Department to tourism stakeholders where various features of the Industrial Policy with respect to the tourism sector were discussed in detail.

Among other things, the industrial policy envisages a subsidy of 100 per cent on purchase or installation of diesel gen-set; incentives on pollution control devices, besides subsidy on automation under the new central sector scheme.

The session also discussed capital investment eligibility while an interactive session of questions &  answers and other queries were also flagged besides the stakeholders giving their prompt feedback and various suggestions. In another session, stakeholders raised their queries and sought their replies.
