PM Modi to address nation at 5 pm today

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 5 pm on Monday.

A tweet posted by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) reads, "Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi will address the nation at 5 PM today, 7th June."

The Prime Minister's address is expected to be centred on COVID-19 at a time the country is recovering from the devastating second wave of the pandemic.

India recorded 1,00,636 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Monday.

This is the lowest daily case recorded in the past 61 days.

The death toll due to the virus has now touched 3,49,186 with fresh 2,427 deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

Steps need to be taken to bring down vaccine wastage: PM Modi 

Chairing a high-level meeting on Friday to review the progress of India’s vaccination drive, the Prime Minister instructed that vaccine wastage numbers are still on the higher side and steps need to be taken to bring them down.

Officials also briefed the Prime Minister on various measures being taken on the tech front to make the process of vaccination more people-friendly.

"The government of India is actively working with vaccine manufacturers and helping them in terms of facilitating more production units, financing and supply of raw materials," an official statement from the Prime Minister's Office said.
