Rahul Gandhi says India will have to pay heavily for Modi govt's 'inability to act decisively' amid COVID-19 outbreak

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has yet again attacked Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and accused the government of mishandling the coronavirus situation.

“Quick aggressive action is the answer to tackling the coronavirus. India is going to pay an extremely heavy price for our government’s inability to act decisively,” he said on social media platform Twitter.

At the time this story was published, India had reported 151 confirmed coronavirus cases, including foreigners, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Even before coronavirus had hit India, the Gandhi scion had been questioning the government's capability of tackling the situation often making jibes with his tweets and comments.

“The coronavirus is an extremely serious threat to our people and our economy. My sense is the government is not taking this threat seriously. Timely action is critical,” Gandhi had tweeted last month.

Making a counter-attack on Rahul Gandhi, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said the Modi government's effort to tackle the pandemic has drawn applause across the globe.

Four days ago, Gandhi had said the Indian economy could collapse in the face of coronavirus outbreak if the country did not take strong action.

“I will keep repeating this. The coronavirus is a huge problem. Ignoring the problem is a non-solution. The Indian economy will be destroyed if strong action is not taken. The government is in a stupor,” he said on March 13.
