Standard presented to 18 CAVALRY of Indian Armoured Corps

Amritsar, Mar 7 (IBNS) General Dalbir Singh, Chief of the Army Staff, presented the ‘Standard’ to 18 CAVALRY on behalf of President Pranab Mukherjee, and also released a Special Day Cover, on Monday.
This honour was bestowed upon the 18 CAVALRY in due recognition of the dedicated service rendered by the Regiment since its raising on Jan 31, 1842.  
 
18 CAVALRY is a front-line regiment of the Indian Armoured Corps.
 
General Dalbir Singh is also the Honorary Colonel of the regiment
 
The regiment has won 29 battle and theatre honours, second highest in the Armoured corps.
 
The parade was commanded by Colonel Anup Tiwary, Commandant 18 CAVALRY along with other regimental officers, Junior Commission Officers and other ranks. 
 
The ceremony was also attended by Lieutenant General KJ Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command and a number of senior officers and civil dignitaries.
