COVID-19 in Maharashtra: 72 jawans among 90 new cases in Aurangabad
Aurangabad/UNI: As many as 90 persons, including 72 jawans and 18 civilians, tested COVID-19 positive on Friday, the largest single-day hike in pandemic cases here, stated authorities.
With the new additions, the count of confirmed cases surged to 468 among which 12 patients have died while 26 others are cured.
Out of the 18 cases, four each are from Jai Bhimnagar and Begampura, three from Baijipura, and one each from Bhimnagar,Shah Bazar, Garkheda, Katkat Gate, Sikander Park, Mukudwadi and Khultabad, apprised District Civil Surgeon Dr Sunder Kulkarni.
Meanwhile, the infected jawans are attached to the Bharat Battalion Force of Aurangabad unit. They were among the batch of 110 personnel posted in Nashik's Malegaon, a hotspot.
On May 5, they returned to this district, and were subsequently taken to a quarantine centre at Satara parisar. Today, the reports confirmed that 72 out of 110 jawans have contracted the contagion, stated civic body Heath Officer Dr Nita Padalkar.
