Gorakhpur/UNI: With 217 more cases being identified in the past 24 hours and amidst the spike in the number of infections, three police station areas of Gorakhpur will observe a complete lockdown from August 4-10.

Gorakhpur District Magistrate K Vijayendra Pandeyan on Monday said here three areas of Gorakhpur--Gorakhnath, Rajghat and Cantt, have witnessed a spurt in the number of Coronavirus patients.

Hence, the lockdown has been extended in these areas as a precautionary measure.

The DM said government offices, banks and medicine shops will remain open and their employees can report to duties after showing identity cards.

About 1,000 people are being tested currently every day and hence, the cases are increasing.
