Malaysia announces 2 coronavirus cases among Wuhan evacuees
Bangkok/Sputnik/UNI: Malaysia confirmed two cases of the coronavirus among its nationals who had been evacuated from Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, according to the country's health authorities say media reports.
According to the Malaysian daily The Star, Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said at a news briefing that a father and son from among the 108 passengers who returned from Wuhan have tested positive for coronavirus infection on Tuesday.
"The two did not show any symptoms when they were screened at the Air Disaster Unit (ADU) after the plane landed in the country on Tuesday," Dzulkefly said, according to The Star.
Other family members of the duo have however tested negative for the infection, the newspaper reported.
The health minister told the reporters that all those evacuated have been quarantined for 14 days as has become the standard practice among most countries evacuating their citizens from China.
