Badaun/UNI: The total number of COVID-19 patients reached four after two more people were found to be affected in two separate areas of this Uttar Pradesh district, District Magistrate said on Thursday.

District Magistrate Kumar Prashant said that two individuals were found to be positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday night. One of them is a resident of Mohalla Jalandhari Sarai in the city and had returned home from Delhi on March 24.

The second individual had come in contact with a person associated with the Tablighi Jamaat event who was residing in a Mosque situated in the Bhawanipur Khalli village in the Sahaswan tehsil area.

Prashant said that after being home quarantined, the samples of both the youths had been sent for testing which arrived positive, following which they were sent to Bareilly.

The Jalandhari Sarai area has been sealed and sanitized and tracing is being conducted in the whole area to gather information about people who may have come in contact with the infected youth. Bhawanipur and 14 villages surrounding the area had already been sealed.

The DM said that so far, 163 samples have been sent for testing out of which four have tested positive, 118 tested negative while the test results of 41 samples are awaited.
