West Bengal reports eight fresh active Covid-19 cases amid two more deaths

Kolkata/IBNS: The total number of Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has mounted to 37 as swab samples of eight persons, who are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals, were found Covid-19 positive, officials said on Tuesday late night. Two persons died during the day taking the death toll in the state to five.

According to reports, two men, aged 62 years and 57 years, died in Kolkata's N.R.S. Medical College and Hospital, and Howrah ILS hospital respectively on Tuesday and their swab samples were found positive for novel coronavirus later at night.

Meanwhile, an Italy returnee woman, who is undergoing treatment at Dum Dum ILS hospital, two persons from Seoraphuli, who are being treated at a health facility at Serampore, a man from Egra in East Medinipur district and another man, who has been admitted to R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, tested positive for Covid-19.

Sources in the state health department said that samples of the wife, son and daughter of Kolkata's Army Command Hospital's anesthesiologist, who had earlier tested Covid-19 positive, have been found positive for novel coronavirus.

Earlier in the morning, Kolkata's Beliaghata ID hospital discharged three Covid-19 patients, including state's first novel coronavirus case, after they had tested negative for Covid-19 and they have been sent to a mandatory 14-day home quarantine.

Presently, West Bengal is treating 29 novel coronavirus positive patients at different health facilities while the state has reported five deaths due to Covid-19 infections so far.
