Shimla/UNI: In line with the Centre, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to further reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur who also holds the portfolio of finance said on his Twitter page that his govt also decided to cut down the prices of diesel and petrol today.

He said that now petrol would be available cheaper by Rs 12 and diesel by Rs 17 per liter in the state.

"Surely this decision of the government will bring a lot of relief to the people of the state," he said.

The Centre announced to reduce Central Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by Rs. 5 and Rs. 10 respectively from Thursday.

Prices of petrol and diesel thus came down in many states accordingly.
