Indian Market: Sensex up over 200 points

Mumbai/UNI: Extending gains for the third straight session on Friday the BSE Sensex surged 225 points to 58,686.67 following gains in Materials, Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services, Industrials and IT stocks.

The Nifty too rose by 58.75 points to reach 17,460.40 points.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 58,757.09 and 58,512.47 points respectively.

The Nifty registered the days high and low at 17,489.80 and 17,415.90 points respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.57 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.

The gainers were L& T by 2.43 per cent to Rs 1832.50, Infosys by 1.52 per cent to Rs 1774.85, Axis Bank by 1.46 per cent to Rs 685.95 and Kotak Bank by 0.91 per cent to Rs 1982.15.

The losers were Nestle India by 0.97 per cent to Rs 19,314.10, Bharti Airtel by 0.92 per cent to Rs 725.45 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.86 per cent to Rs 7262.15.
