Pakistan slowly witnessing surge in COVID-19 cases

Islamabad: Pakistan is slowly witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases with capital Islamabad registering  119 new cases in the last 24 hours, media reports said.

The capital's case tally has risen to 20,089, reports Dawn New.

Gilgit-Baltistan has reported 18 new cases taking its total to 4,279, reports the Pakistan news paper.

Meanwhile, PM Imran Khan on Monday called for a National Coordination Committee meeting on Tuesday to discuss the growing trend of COVID-19 infections in the country.

Sources told Geo News that the premier will be briefed by the  National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on the coronavirus situation.

Pakistani Minister Asad Umar said the country's government was deliberating over additional measures to contain the rising spread of coronavirus in the population.
