IIHMR University conducts training programme for WB departments of Panchayat’s and Rural Development
The first two five day long training programmes were conducted in June, 2016 for Managers, Project Coordinators and Administrative functionaries from the department of Panchayat’s and Rural Development under the Government of West Bengal. .
The IIHMR University has become destination for training and capacity development in leadership and strategic management, hospital management, disaster management, quality management, project management, health management information systems, and health economics and finance.
Dr. SD Gupta, Chairman and Trustee Secretary, IIHMR University in his inaugural speech reflected that, “ Panchayats & Rural Development Department of the Government of West Bengal is responsible for constitution and framing policy related to functioning of the rural local self-government, ie, the Panchayats; providing administrative support to the three tier panchayat system and; implementation of various rural development programmes including the major poverty alleviation programmes in the rural areas of the State. The Management Development Programme on Personal and Professional Excellence is specially designed to instill in the participants the spark and energy to positively internalize the spirit of the collaborative management and help them equip with necessary attitudes, skills for purposive action and sense of shared responsibility.”
The training Dean Dr P R Sodani furthered the context by emphasizing that, “ The customized programme is aimed at unifying diverse competencies through enabling cross functional appreciation with the purpose of enjoying challenges together. The objective of the programme is to appreciate the roles and functions of Managers and Administrators specially in the context of Rural Development and Panchayat bodies and instill personal and professional excellence. The programme also assesses the efficacy in present roles with the help of psychometric instruments and allows the participants to interact, ideate, debate and deliberate upon strategies to improve role efficacy. The other objectives include developing an introspective perspective into self-motivation and motivating others, gaining an insight into nature of conflicts and strategies of Conflict Management and developing understanding of team working and nuances of team building.”
