New Delhi, Aug 15 (IBNS) : Prominent Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh resigned from the party on Wednesday on what he said "personal ground."

Announcing his resignation in a tweet, the 53-year-old leader said: :Every journey has an end. My association with AAP which was beautiful/revolutionary has also an end.I have resigned from the PARTY/requested PAC to accept the same. It is purely from a very very personal reason. Thanks to party/all of them who supported me Throughout.Thanks.

In another tweet he said, "A second tweet read: "To media friends. Please respect my privacy. I won't be giving any bite of any kind. Please cooperate."

Asutosh, who once was a television journalist, joined AAP in 2014 and unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha election that year from Delhi's Chandni Chowk.

His resignation comes months after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal selected party candidates to fill three vacant Rajya seats, which reportedly left other aspirants, including Asutosh, aggrieved. This resulted in the resignation of senior leader Kumar Vishwas.
