Insurgents target Assam Rifles patrol in Arunachal; soldier killed
An Assam Rifles soldier was killed and four others injured after their patrol team came under attack by insurgents in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district, close to the Myanmar border, media reports said.
The attack reportedly took place at around 6:30 pm on Tuesday when the soldiers were patrolling the area.
Condoling the death of the soldier, the Assam Rifles said in a post on X: “Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles & All Ranks of Assam Rifles pay solemn tribute to Hav Jangkhokai Kuki who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty at Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh on 29 Sep 2026 and offer deep condolences to the family of our Brave Soldier. DG Assam Rifles & All Ranks of Assam Rifles stand firmly with the bereaved family.”

The four injured soldiers were shifted to a military hospital for treatment, reports said.
It was not immediately clear which insurgent group was behind the attack.
Security forces have launched an operation in the area to track down and neutralise the insurgents, officials told NDTV.
The Changlang area, located near the Myanmar border, remains highly sensitive due to the presence and activities of insurgent groups.
