Anti-Maoist drive in Bihar ahead of Lok Sabha election
Patna, Mar 19 (UNI): A massive anti-Maoist drive has been launched in four extremist dominated Lok Sabha constituencies going to the poll in the first phase of election on April 11.
On the direction of the Election Commission, special operation has been launched against extremists of outlawed CPI (Maoist) in Aurangabad, Nawada, Jamui (reserved) and Gaya (reserved) constituencies going to the poll in the first phase.
All these constituencies are considered as the most extremist dominated areas in the state.
The security forces had launched area domination exercise in these constituencies 15 days ago.
The search operation was especially intensive in bordering areas of Bihar and Jharkhand. Maoists have strong presence in these areas even as security forces are being assisted by police personnel from districts concerned.
Security personnel coming from outside Bihar are being apprised of topography of the respective regions of their deputation. Anti-mine vehicles will be used in the difficult terrain during the election for the purpose of road opening even as bullet
proof vehicles would also be used.
As it is, several extremists have been arrested in special drive being carried out in these Lok Sabha constituencies and a large number of sophisticated weapons and other incriminating objectives have also been recovered from them.
