Anti Submarine Warfare Corvette 'Kadmatt' now in hands of Indian Navy

Kolkata, Nov 27 (IBNS) A Super sophisticated frontline anti-submarine warship Corvette 'Kadmatt' built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) now belong to Indian Navy.

The ship on Thursday was formally handed over to Indian Navy at a brief ceremony held in presence of Rear Admiral Narayan Prasad, Chief Staff Officer (Technical), Eastern Naval Command and other senior officials of the Indian Navy and GRSE. 

Read Admiral (Retd.) A. K. Verma, Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE handed over the ship to Cdr. Mahesh C. Moudgil in the above mentioned ceremony.

The ship’s main role is to protect nation’s maritime interests against possible submarine attack and it is a potent platform for neutralizing the enemy submarines using weapons like torpedoes, rocket launchers and helicopter.

The ship has got excellent stealth features, both above and below the sea surface. The ship is equipped with total atmospheric control ventilation system making it fully capable to fight nuclear, biological and chemical warfare situations.

The ship is 109 metres long with a displacement of 3200 tons and has a maximum speed of 25 Knots, with an endurance of over 3400 NM at 18 knots speed. It is designed to accommodate 17 officers and 106 sailors.
