Arvind Kejriwal's top bureaucrat again at CBI office

| | Dec 16, 2015, at 04:01 pm
New Delhi, Dec 16 (IBNS) Arvind Kejriwal's top bureaucrat Rajinder Kumar arrived at the CBI headquarters again on Wednesday morning after he was questioned for hours on Tuesday night following day-long raids at the Chief Minister's office.

Kejriwal said he was the target of the raids, not his principal secretary,  who has been accused of corruption.

Rajender Kumar has been accused of setting up various companies that were given work contracts without tenders at a huge loss to the Delhi government. The alleged irregularities took place before the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power, first in 2013 and then earlier this year.

The CBI has charged  Kumar with criminal conspiracy and misconduct. The ruling AAP alleges that the evidence against him is not strong enough.

Kejriwal said the real reason for the raid was to search his offices for a file linked to cricket corruption allegedly involving Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

He also called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "coward and a psychopath" for allegedly having the raids cnducted.

AAP alleges that there were financial irregularities when  Jaitley was the president of the DDCA or Delhi and District Cricket Association for 13 years till December, 2013.

The CBI claims it has found about Rs. 13 lakh cash in raids on Rajender Kumar and another person. The agency said Rs. 3 lakh in foreign currency and Rs. 2.4 lakh cash was found from Rajender Kumar's home.

The BJP called Kejriwal's words against the PM "abominable" and said he owed an unqualified apology to Modi.
