Assam: Congress expels Angkita Dutta for anti-party' activities
New Delhi/UNI: The Congress on Saturday expelled its Youth Wing chief of Assam unit, Angkita Dutta for allegedly indulging in "anti-party" activities.
"Congress President has expelled Angkita Dutta, President Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, from the primary membership of the party, for six years, for her anti-party activities, with immediate effect," read the communique issued by party's disciplinary committee Member Secretary Tariq Anwar on Saturday.
Earlier, Dutta had accused president of Indian Youth Congress Srinivas BV of harassment.
"Despite being mentally harassed and discriminated by Srinivas BV for 6 months. I have been told to keep mum and no enquiry is initiated," Dutta tweeted.
Srinivas sent a criminal defamation notice to Angkita Dutta following her allegationy against him.
"The entire exercise of publically maligning and defaming Srinivas BV is politically motivated, and is absolutely false and baseless," the Youth Congress said in a statement.
