Teachers’ Day: President Murmu urges teachers to embrace technology, foster independent thinking
President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday extended her greetings to teachers across the country on the eve of Teachers' Day, lauding their role in nurturing talent, shaping character and preparing students to contribute to the nation's future.
In her message, President Murmu paid tribute to former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary on September 5 is observed as Teachers' Day. She remembered him as an accomplished scholar, philosopher, author and exceptional teacher.
'Teachers play vital role in shaping students'
President Murmu said teachers have a crucial responsibility in guiding students beyond academics and helping them develop into responsible and compassionate individuals.
"Teachers, through their guidance and mentorship, play a vital role in nurturing talent and strengthening character," she said.
She added that a dedicated and caring teacher can identify the unique abilities of students, inspire them to pursue their goals and encourage them to strive for excellence.
Murmu urges teachers to embrace technology
The President also called upon educators to continuously upgrade their knowledge and adapt to changing teaching practices.
She urged teachers to embrace technology, adopt innovative teaching methods and encourage independent thinking among students.
According to Murmu, educators should also foster curiosity and cultivate a spirit of enquiry, enabling students to develop the skills needed to navigate a rapidly changing world.
'Nurture enlightened generations'
Expressing her gratitude to teachers across the country, the President said their contribution is vital to building future generations capable of taking India forward.
"I express my gratitude to all the dedicated teachers for their contribution. I wish that all teachers nurture enlightened generations who will take the nation to greater heights," she said.
25 teachers to be honoured on Teachers' Day
As part of Teachers' Day celebrations on September 5, President Murmu will honour 25 teachers for their contributions to education.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to interact with students and faculty members of Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) as part of the institution's centenary celebrations.
Modi is expected to address the gathering at 7 pm during the celebrations marking 100 years of the college.
