Assam: Out of eight declared candidates three sitting BJP MPs denied party tickets

Guwahati, Mar 21 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday declared its first list of 182 candidates including eight from Assam for Lok Sabha elections.

Three sitting BJP MPs of Assam have been denied party ticket this time and they are Bijoya Chakraborty (Gauhati), Ramen Deka (Mangaldoi) and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa (Jorhat).

Sitting MP Rameswar Teli will once again contest from Dibrugarh seat, while Pradan Baruah will be BJP candidate from Lakhimpur constituency.

The saffron party has given party ticket to Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly Kripanath Mallah from Karimganj, Rajdeep Roy from Silchar, Assam minister Tapan Gogoi from Jorhat, state BJP leader Dilip Saikia from Mangaldoi, Queen Ojha from Gauhati and Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Harensingh Bey.

Out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, BJP will contest from 10 seats and its ally partners AGP will contest in three and BPF in one seat.

BJP is yet to declare its candidates for Nowgong and Tezpur seats.

The Lok Sabha elections in Assam will be held on April 11, 18 and 23 in first three phases.
