Bengal: 'Aarogya' coach cum vaccination centre open for railway staff at Sealdah station

Kolkata/UNI: A special mobile health unit ‘Aarogya’ and mobile Covid vaccination centre in form of a train coach were inaugurated at West Bengal's Sealdah station by S P. Singh, Divisional Railway Manager, Eastern Railway (ER), Sealdah.

This special medical coach is intended for health check-ups and vaccination of the railway employees and their families, posted at far-off stations under the Sealdah Division of ER, and also for public awareness activities relating to public health, the Eastern Railway officials said.

On its inaugural run, the train will move up to Ranaghat, they added.

‘Aarogya’ is an air-conditioned EMU coach with separate compartments for patient waiting, doctors’ room, observation area, dressing room/minor OT, etc. with oxygen cylinder & basic resuscitative equipment, the Eastern Railway said.

This Mobile Health Unit will be manned by doctors and paramedical staff of B R Singh Hospital, ER, it said.

Additionally, it said the coach will be moved independently in any direction to any railway station or shed within the jurisdiction of Sealdah Division, covering Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, and Murshidabad.

The West Bengal State Health authorities have inspected this mobile health unit ‘Aarogya’ and approved to run it as a mobile COVID vaccination centre to wayside stations and for taking COVID vaccine from the quota being supplied to B R Singh Hospital and vaccinating Railway beneficiaries for three categories – the frontline workers, the dependents of the Railway employees aged more than 45 years and the retired Railway employees.

The hospital said Login ID of BRSH CVC in Co-Win portal will be used and it will move as an extension of B R Singh Hospital as COVID Vaccination Centre with extra vaccine vials to be supplied by the West Bengal Government which will be a maximum of 140 doses per trip.

All directives of the Ministry of Health & Welfare, Govt. of India will be followed in the vaccination procedure scrupulously, it said.
