BJP veterans meet to discuss Kirti Azad's suspension

New Delhi, Dec 24 (IBNS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veterans Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha met on Thursday to discuss party MP Kirti Azad's suspension, reports said.
The veterans, who form the Marg Darshak Mandal of the party, met at Joshi's residence in New Delhi.

Azad was suspended by BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday evening for allegedly indulging in "anti-party" activities. The action followed Azad's repeated swipes at Union  on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) which the latter headed for 13 years.

Media reports quoted sources as saying that he veterans are of the view that allegations level by Azad should be looked into by the party. Some leaders are of the view that due process was not followed before Azad was suspended.

The Lok Sabha MP from Darbhanga in Bihar has been accusing DDCA officials of indulging in corruption. Even after his suspension  Azad said that he will not surrender and continue to fight against corruption. "If speaking the truth is a crime, I will continue doing it. I will not surrender," he said.

Claiming that none of his actions were anti-party, he said that he has not spoken against a specific person but only pointed out certain anomalies in the working of the DDCA. "Why can't a raid take place on DDCA? The allegations that I have levelled against the DDCA cannot be called anti-party activities," he said.

He also demanded that the BJP should tell him the reasons on which he has been suspended from the party. "If I have been suspended, I should know the reasons too. I have been raising the issue of corruption in DDCA for the last 9 years and I have never made it a party issue. But now they are considering it to be a party issue," he said.

Asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter and help him get specific answers, Azad, had also said "The Marg Darshak Mandal should also intervene and help me out.”
