BJP will form next government in Meghalaya : Amit Shah
Shillong, Jan 6 (IBNS) : After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Saturday blew the poll bugle in Meghalaya by saying the saffron party will form the next government in the state.
While addressing a public rally held at Tikrikilla in West Garo hills district of the north eastern Indian state, Shah termed the present Mukul Sangma-led Congress government in Meghalaya as the most corrupt.
Shah said: “People of Meghalaya is all set to leave Congress from the state and wanted a change of development, corruption free state."
“The most corrupt government in the past five years is Mukul Sangma-led government. During the Congress rule in centre, Meghalaya was accorded Rs 5817 crore in the 13th Finance Commission, but Modi’s rule, the state was given Rs 25413 crore in the 14th Finance Commission. Where is this fund and where is development in the state. Actually, Mukul Sangma-led government looted whole development fund,” the BJP President said.
Shah said that the state has been deprived from development during the last 15 years Congress tenure.
“If BJP to make next government, Meghalaya to become a model state in development,” he said.
“The Centre has asked the Meghalaya government to submit project completion certificates, but the government is failed to submit it as no development projects are being properly implemented,” Shah said.
The BJP President also inaugurated the state party office in Shillong and discussed with the party office bearers and members ahead of assembly poll likely to be held in March.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Shah visited Maa Kamakhya temple in Guwahati to offer prayers.
The BJP President arrived in Guwahati on Friday night.
Shah will visit Tripura on Sunday where he will address two public rallies in the poll bound state.
