Bullet train example of strong relationship between India and Japan: PM Modi

Ahmedabad, Sep 14 (IBNS): Launching the bullet train in Ahmedabad, a project that is invested by Japan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said it is an example of strong relationship between India and Japan.

PM Modi launched one of his dream projects along with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.

The train will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai from 2022.

Congratulating the people of Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the Prime Minister said: "Bullet train brings fast pace, fast development, fast technology and fast results."

"The project will bring both the business and speed."

The total cost of the bullet train project is 1,10,000 crore rupees out of which 88000 crore rupees will be charged at 0.1 per cent  interest by Japan.

PM Modi, during his speech, claimed the project will certain have an impact on the lives of poor people. "If technology used for poor, combating poverty becomes easier."

He said the bullet train will certainly facilitate the country with the productivity and income. "Economic development will occur. Growth will occur when there is productivity," he said.

Abe, who is on a two-day visit to the country, is presently in Gujarat.

Speaking about the Indo-Japanese partnership in making the bullet train in India, Abe said: "Both the powerful nations are with each other. We (India and Japan) are no longer opponent countries but transferred into a global strategic partnership."

Though the project initially sought to take six years, today both the top leaders said it is expected that it will be completed by 2022.

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, railway minister Piyush Goyal are present at the launching event.

Railway minister Piyush Goyal believes India will be gainer in the bullet train project. "The bullet train project will not only create developments but also fulfill PM Modi's dream of New India."

"The project will benefit the common people of the country at a low cost. I have full faith that bullet train made with Japan's technology will boost the Make In India initiative," the railway minister said.

Rupani said, with the bullet train, Indo-Japanese relationship reached a new height. "We are connected with Japan through business partnership."

"We will bring employment to thousands of youth of Gujarat and Maharashtra" the Gujarat CM said.

Maharashtra CM Fadnavis too thanked Japanese PM Abe for lending support to India to make bullet train.
