New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The Election Commission led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review poll preparedness in view of the Lok Sabha elections.

The team met representatives of 12 political parties in Srinagar on Monday. The poll panel will conduct similar exercise in Jammu on Tuesday.

The poll panel has been conducting extensive consultation with political leaders, respective state election authorties and state governments across the country for about a month now and is likely to announce poll dates for parliamentary elections sooner than later.

The code of conduct at the national level is likely to be enforced soon, sources said.

National Conference general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, who led his party delegation in meeting with EC, said they urged the EC to announce assembly polls along with the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, according to reports.

The state is in "anarchy" under President’s Rule, the NC delegation alleged.

Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP has also urged EC to announce simultaneous polls in the state.
