ECI transfers IPS officer ahead of Bengal polls

Kolkata, Mar 19 (IBNS): Few weeks prior to the West Bengal assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday issued transfer order to senior IPS officer Bharati Ghosh.

Bharati Ghosh, who addressed Mamata Banerjee as 'Mother of Jangalmahal' from an administrative meeting, was holding the post of OSD, LWE (Having jurisdiction over three Left Wing Extremism districts of Bengal- West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura).

According to the ECI, Ghosh has been shifted to the WB Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as a special superintendent.

Earlier on Thursday, the ECI transferred 37 administrative officers, including four SPs, One DM, two SDPOs, one SDO, two DEOs and twenty-four OCs and ICs, in the state.
