Farewell Manohar Parrikar: Goa CM cremated with full state honours

Panaji, Mar 18 (IBNS): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who passed away on Sunday, was cremated in Panaji with full state honours on Monday.

Thousands of people paid their last tributes to the Goan leader on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Goa to pay his last homage to his former colleague in the Centre.

In his emotional tweet, Modi said Parrikar's good work will be remembered for years to come.

Modi tweeted: "Paid tributes to my friend Shri Manohar Parrikar. He personified humility, simplicity and compassion. The good work he has done will be remembered for years to come."

Parrikar passed away on Sunday after ending his battle against cancer.

He had also served as the Defence Minister of the nation in the past.
