Bhubaneswar, Mar 22 (IBNS) At least 60 houses were set on fire on Monday at Adivasi Sahi of Dadhimacchagadia under Sadar Police jurisdiction area in Odisha's Khurda district, officials said.

According to police reports, few unidentified miscreants set ablaze these houses on Monday noon, possibly to take revenge of a murder  in the same village.

A local stone crusher unit owner, Sujit Biswal, was murdered by unknown miscreants on Saturday evening.

Police are suspecting that the houses were set on fire possibly to take revenge on the murder.

Additional Director General of Odisha Police (ADGP- Law and Order) Satyajeet Mohanty told IBNS, "Following the murder, two platoons of police force were deployed there to maintain law and order and nine persons have been arrested so far in connection with the murder. Yesterday few miscreants set ablaze at least 60 houses there in Adivasi Sahi village. Two tractors were also gutted."

"Policemen were also attacked there. Miscreants threw crude hand bombs aiming at a temporary police camp and three cops were injured. We have sent more police force there and are searching for the miscreants," Mohanty added.

However, fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the massive blaze under control. No casualty has been reported so far.
