Former Minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murdered

Kadapa Mar 15 (UNI) Former Minister and YSRCP leader Y S Vivekananda Reddy was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants when he was alone in his house in Pulivendula town in this district on Thursday night.

Reddy was the younger brother of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and paternal uncle to Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Vivekananda Reddy was elected to Assembly in 1989 and 1994 from Pulivendula constituency and to Lok Sabha from Kadapa Parliamentary constituency in 1999 and 2004. He worked as a Minister for Agriculture in the combined AP state in 2010.

Vivekananda Reddy was found lying in a pool of blood in a toilet this morning. Initially, it was suspected that he collapsed due to cardiac arrest and he suffered injury when fell down. The doctors of RIMS conducted post-mortem, which revealed that he was stabbed in head, chest and hands by miscreants.
Superintendent of police Rahuv Dev Sharma inspected the scene of offence in Pulivendula and sniffer dogs were pressed into service for clues.

Sharma told media that five stab injuries were found on his head causing instant death and post-mortem report confirmed that he was murdered.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu spoke to the DGP and other top police officials and directed to form special teams to arrest the perpetrators.
Earlier, Mr Naidu condoled the death of Vivekananda Reddy.

A case under section 302 of IPC was registered. Additional DGP Amit Garg was appointed as in-charge to the SIT and he inspected the scene of offence.

As the post-mortem report confirmed that he was murdered, the YSRCP leaders alleged the hand of Telugu Desam Party leaders and demanded a CBI probe.
