Four more people killed in Kerala rain

Thiruvananthapuram, July 16 (IBNS) : Four people have been killed in the last 24 hours in Kerala as heavy rains continued to pound the state in the second spell of its onset, media reports said.

According to the state Government, altogether eleven people have been killed since July 9.

The meteorological office has predicted more rain till Thursday.

Two of the deceased have been identified from Kozhikode and the other two from Kannur’s Alappuzha. The trains are running behind schedule and educational institutions have been ordered

Schools and colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts were closed on Monday as a result of waterlogging that disrupted road and railway traffic, the reports said.

Kerala University has postponed all its examinations scheduled for Tuesday.

Several low-lying areas and roads are cut off.

Around 2,000 families have been shifted to 46 relief camps in the stat
