The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), along with his wife Mrs. Anagha Parnaik, paid a visit to the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) Centre in Naharlagun on July 19 to assess the various facilities provided by OWA, including the Specialized Adoption Agency Home, the 'Children Home', the 'Shakti Sadan', the Women Helpline-181 office, and the Free Legal Aid Clinic, established by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.

During their visit, the esteemed couple also took the opportunity to explore the Oju Craft Centre, tailoring section, weaving-cum-production unit, and sales emporium.

Impressed with the initiative, they acknowledged the training provided to the women of Shakti Sadan, enabling them to attain self-employment and financial empowerment.

The Governor and the First Lady expressed their admiration for the late Mrs. Binny Yanga, the founder Chairperson of OWA, who had laid a strong foundation of hope and support for the underprivileged.

They praised the current Chairperson, Mrs. Ratan Anya, and her team for carrying forward Mrs. Yanga's vision of selfless sacrifice and service.

During his address, the Governor praised Oju Welfare Association for its commendable efforts in serving humanity and providing love, trust, and care to those in need.

He commended the center's focus on education for underprivileged children and skill development for distressed women, expressing hope that it will empower them to become self-reliant and responsible citizens.

Currently catering to 370 individuals, including orphaned, abandoned, and surrendered children, as well as women in distress, the OWA Centre received the Governor's assurance of support and assistance from the Raj Bhavan and the State Government for infrastructural improvements and effective program implementation, reported Arunachal24.

This visit highlights the unwavering commitment of the state authorities towards the welfare of the underprivileged, as they laud Oju Welfare Association's noble cause and its impact on transforming lives positively.
